Happy New Year

To help us celebrate the new year here are a few of 2009's best (and worst) moments in fashion. Enjoy! Xo.

The World goes Gaga over Gaga
Even if your not a fan of her infectious pop music one can't deny that Lady Gaga's style is out of this world. Who will ever forget her insane outfits in 2009.

We love high fashion for low price
Perhaps it was the economic downturn that caused high end designers to widen there reach with diffusion lines in 2009. At H&M there was Matthew Willimson, Sonia Rykiel and Jimmy Choo (who can forget the amazing pair of Choo's who got our hands on.) At Target in 09 there was also Rotarte, Anna Sui and Alexander McQueen. These were just a few of the collaborations of 2009.

Best and Worst goes to Metallic for all
The metallic trend comes full circle in May at the Costume institute Gala as Kate moss appears (with Marc Jacobs in hand) wearing a costume metallic turban and minidress.

Topshop lands in North America, finally
British fast fashion dreamland Topshop finally crosses the border and opens it's doors in New York city's SoHo neighborhood. Now if only they can make that trip up a little further north... to lets say Toronto.

Fashion's night out
Anna Wintour pulled of what might just be the event of her career and that is fashion's night out. In an attempt to woo recession-wary consumers, Wintour teamed up with the City of New York and over 150 retailers on September 10 for an evening of celebrity appearances (Gwen Stefani at Bloomindales, Sienna Miller and Rhianna at Intermix and the Olsen Twins at Bergdorf Goodman), cocktails and, of course, shopping.

Best Camera Cameos
From Tom Fords directorial debut in A single Man to R.J. Cutler's The September Issue fashion ruled films this year. Lets not forget our personal favorite film of the year; Valentino: The last Emperor, a documentary the traced the last two years in the legends career. Also, Coco Chanel returned to the forefront of fashion with three biopics: Lifetime's "Coco Chanel" starring Shirley MacLaine, "Coco avant Chanel" with Audrey Tautou and the forthcoming "Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky" featuring Anna Mouglalis as the queen of comfortable chic.

And the Worst of the year goes to...
Snuggies... the oversized blanket with sleeves, enough said.
