How to: Wear Gold this holiday season!

Holiday party season is upon us. I love the look of a gold dress for the holiday season it adds an element of glamour. Here are some tips for wearing gold this holiday season:

1. Choose the shade of gold wisely, Brassy, yellow gold can be harsh on some complexions.

2. Whether it's a sequin party dress, a soft satin shirt or a short, velvet mini, gold is definitely a statement. That means leave the head-to-toe gold at the Disco and pair with simple neutrals.

3. Accessories are another great way to get gold into your get up. Small clutches, earrings or groupings of bangles act as an accent to other patterns, colors and prints.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent the weekend getting all my holiday shopping out of the way (and did a little extra shopping for me of course.) I came across these images of anchors and absolutely feel in love with them. I spent this past summer working abroad in Milan and during my trip I got a tattoo of an anchor on my ankle. I love the meaning behind the anchor and its symbolism.

How to: Cook like an Italian nonna

My grandmother is undoubtedly one of the best chefs around. We were all incredibly spoiled as children to have her around to make us 3 course meals every night (seriously you can't even imagine the amount of food.) Still to this day she bakes the same recipes and dishes that were passed down to her as a child in Italy. I thought these images were beautiful ... enjoy.

How to: Make-up lessons with Maureen

Yesterday night we had the most amazing night with our dear friend and make-up artist Maureen.We had a great night full of food and make-up (two of my favorite things). We went through all of our bags and she tossed out all the dated pieces and things that didn't work on our skin tones. Even though I was a little reluctant to toss some of my favorite pieces I quickly realized what a difference the right product makes. It is easy to get in a make-up rut and it is essential that we do the audit at least once a year. Here are some other great pointers I picked up. 

I highly recommend that everyone sits down and clean up your kits!

1. Throw out everything that is over a year old - really it's no good anymore. 

2. It is really important to clean your brushes and shadows at least once a month.

3. Eyeshadow primer is essential (she recommends the MAC eyeshadow primer) it can completely lift any eyeshadow color you already own and will stay on for 8hrs.
